Mechanical engineering department has stood out in a variety of fields, achieving various feats from time to time.Besides acknowledging the academic excellence of the meritorious students byconferring them with Gold Medals in annual convocations, the department alsohas competed at regional and national levels at various tech fests and thelike. Following are a few to mention:
1.Lowcost “CNC milling Machine” fabricatedrunning on Mach-III 2.Researchpaper of “Low cost automation (LCA)”published in national journal. 3.Wind Tunnel (fabricated within the college). 4.Stair Climber (acknowledged at NorthIndia tech fest at GCET Jammu). 5.Saffron Sowing Machine (First of itskind, appreciated and approved by SKUAST kmr). 6. Hydraulic Test Tunnel (fabricatedwithin the college).
The department was set up way back in 1988 with an intake capacity of 20 students at diploma level. The department was upgraded subsequently in 1999 for UG Engineering courses with an intake capacity of 30 students and at present has an intake capacity of 120 Students per semester at degree level. The department has 12 labs equipped withlatest machinery to tend to the needs of the students. Er. Mushtaq Ahmed Rather is the current HOD of the department.
